Loving with a broken heart...
Typing with bleeding hands...
Speaking with a rusty voice...
You open it up and Jesus gives grace to make it beautiful. Suddenly the heart is healed, the hands don't hurt and the voice is restored...
So often God puts the difficult people in our lives who make it almost impossible to love. The 'love' covered with the little insult. The 'gift' with a 'catch'... the promise that was simply intended to cheat you of your life.
That's when the Cross calls us to heroic love. Love without compromise, as Catherine Doherty calls it. You embrace the world and they throw a dagger... but that dagger placed in the ground in a trustworthy place can be a pillar to build anew. Like these children of concentration camps (below) exiled to Siberia and then called to use that ground to build a community of love.
I love this picture above -it hangs outside of the chapel of the Precious Blood sister's in Achinsk Russia. (See it over our babuska's head :) ).
Kinda like all of our lives are called to be -sit on the cross, pray unceasingly and hold the entire world as a child before the Father begging grace, love, hope.
Jesus we trust in You. +
