Follow In His Footprints...

Jesus from His childhood had the deadliest of enemies,
yet He went on.
Jesus was ignored and passed over for thirty years,
yet He went on.
Jesus had the very worst interpretations put upon His kindest actions,
yet He went on.
Jesus had all His words falsely reported and twisted,
yet He went on.
Jesus was criticized and condemned as one who was unorthodox,
yet He went on.
Jesus was sneered at by the great and patronized by the learned,
yet He went on.
Jesus knew very little gratitude, He was slighted, and scorned,
yet He went on.
Jesus was deserted by everyone, even His best friends,
yet He went on.
Jesus was betrayed with a kiss, by one He had most trusted,
yet He went on.
Jesus was denied by Peter, the one on whom He most relied,
yet He went on.
Jesus was nailed to a cross as a criminal between two other criminals,
yet He went on.
Jesus was never without those who hated Him, who plotted against Him, who maligned Him behind His back, and He knew they would succeed,
yet He went on.
Jesus is passed over and condemned generation after generation,
yet He goes on.
-Archbishop Goodier, S.J.

I pray that you all will stay close to Jesus crucified -regardless of what you meet in life -so that He can give you the strength to 'continue on' faithfully, regardless of what obstacles you encounter. Remember, there is one thing more powerful than any obstacle you meet -one thing that an obstacle can never stop -and that is your response of loveI pray we all grow to imitate His Love this Lent.
And here's a little advice -when the going gets tough -don't try to be tougher -instead, turn to Jesus as a weak little child, put your hands up, and just ask Him to carry you. You don't need to be strong. His strength is more than enough for you both.

Happy Lent to us all!
