Holy Infant Mary (Santa Bambina)

When I visited Texas after graduating from Notre Dame (1999) I discovered a devotion to the Infant Blessed Mother that a priest had brought over from France. A couple of years later I was helping Mom clean the dining room and I discovered an envelope from Grandma Kowrach's death with pictures and prayers to the Child Infant Mary. Ironically our grandma had a devotion to this rare title of Mary. Since then I have discovered mystical writings of the saints on the early life of Mary, as well as pious devotions to Her under this title. (Click here  and here for the history of this feast.)

The most amazing thing about the Infant Heart of the Blessed Mother is that it is the same Heart that boldly and courageously stood under the torrent of evil with Her Son on Calvary. Mary was immaculately conceived and never stained or tarnished Her Little Heart with the smallest concupiscence or sin. Her purity at birth was Her Purity suffering on Calvary with Her Son -and this is the same purity that shines in heaven.

Here are some beautiful prayers to Our Lady under that title -may She intercede for us all on this Her Saturday. I should have posted this last week on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, but God has His reasons as to why I only was inspired this morning to share this devotion with all of you.

Sweet Heart of Mary, teach us to love and to pray and to imitate your humility and purity all of the days of our lives!
