Episode 28: Mary Kloska Speaks about St. Teresa of Avila and Pere Jacques Bunel
My radio program/podcast this week is on ST. TERESA of AVILA and the French Carmelite priest PERE JACQUES BUNEL, who died from the concentration camps.
If you haven’t seen the last few weeks about these holy Carmelites (St. Therese of Lisieux, St. John of the Cross, St. Edith Stein, Blessed Titus Brandsma) and how the found Union with Christ through the suffering of darkness, abandonment, rejection and sometimes physical pain of the Cross, please GO BACK and LISTEN. These are such important lessons for us all in the midst of such difficult times.
And please LISTEN to this week’s episode and SHARE!
Title: Episode 28: Mary Kloska Speaks about St. Teresa of Avila and Pere Jacques Bunel
Description: In this episode, Mary continues discussing the idea of how God uses darkness, abandonment, suffering and other experiences of the Cross to unite as one with the soul. She specifically focuses on the teachings of the Carmelite St. Teresa of Avila on this topic, as well as showing the reality of these teachings in the life of the French Carmelite Pere Jacques Bunel (who died from what he suffered as a prisoner in a concentration camp, shortly after it was liberated after WWII. ) Mary ties together this process of union with Jesus Crucified that God leads many of His saints through -including mystical sufferings, as well as exterior sufferings imposed by the world around them. Through it all she offers hope that suffering is actually a sign of God's predilection and a means to make one holy.

Episode 26- Mary Speaks about ST. EDITH STEIN AND ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS -UNION WITH JESUS CRUCIFIED
Description: In this episode, Mary introduces the listener to the life of St. Edith Stein (Sr. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross) and explains her spiritual relationship with and writing about St. John of the Cross. She shows, once again, how it is precisely through the darkness, seeming abandonment and suffering of the Cross, that a soul finds the highest union with God through Jesus Crucified. Mary not only shows how deeply St. John of the Cross impressed himself upon the thinking of this brilliant philosopher and Carmelite saint, but also how she made his teaching incarnate by her own suffering of the Passion with Jesus, which culminated with her murder by the Nazi's in Auchwitz. One can clearly see by meditating on St. Edith Stein's writing about St. John of the Cross, how these two saints were deeply united in heart through uniting with Jesus Crucified in life and in death. She explains how it is the fire of God's Divine Love that draws a soul through suffering into a total transformation of a mystical marriage to Christ.

Episode 25: Mary Kloska Presents on St. Padre Pio, St. Therese of Lisieux and St. John of the Cross
Title: The Darkness, Loneliness and Abandonment of Union with Jesus Crucified (According to St. Padre Pio, St. Therese of Lisieux and St. John of the Cross)
Did you know that abandonment, loneliness and darkness are actually the path that God takes a soul on in order to bring her into union with Himself?
There is no path to union with God in heaven (which brings with it complete joy, peace and fulfillment) except for the path of the Cross -the path that takes us through union with Jesus Crucified.

Donors for my ministry...
A few people encouraged me today to make a way available for people to monthly donate to my varying ministries. I set up this account and would be forever grateful for people's generosity.
God bless you and welcome!! My name is Mary Kloska and I am from Elkhart, Indiana. I was raised in a huge Polish family (12 brothers and sisters) along with a lot of foster babies and other needy people in and out of the house. I presently have 70+ nieces and nephews. I have lived a very unique life.
Upon graduating from Notre Dame in 1999 I spent almost 20 years in the missions serving the poor (including orphanages) as well as praying as a consecrated hermit all over the world –Siberia, Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa, Philippines, Mexico, the Holy Land and all over Europe as well. Although I spent a lot of time away in silence praying, ironically I love children and I try to be very fun and outgoing when it comes to serving young adults, as well as the little ones. I also spent my time in the missions giving retreats, doing simple catechesis, leading prayer groups, giving spiritual direction, helping in deliverance, changing diapers, feeding babies and cleaning floors. After spending intense time serving in a mission I would withdraw for periods of ‘retreat’ as a hermit (including three years as an official diocesan hermit with vows under a Bishop.) The last few years I have spent as a fulltime nanny to infant triplets, twins and several large families.
I speak many languages (poorly) and enjoy playing guitar, painting icons, baking, gardening, reading, writing and simply filling in where there is the greatest need in the Church. I really love to be outside in nature with a cup of good coffee (often from one of the orphanages I help in Africa). I have to work full time to support myself, but my heart is still hermity and so I try to include quite a bit of time for solitude and prayer daily. Coming forth from this time of prayer is a beautiful missionary ministry that God has entrusted to me including writing books and blogs, doing radio programs, podcasts, interviews and YouTube videos about the spiritual life, painting icons, writing music and filling in where I see a great need around me.
Your support will enable me to continue this ministry, as it is quite costly -providing everything from art and music supplies, to internet in my home, purchasing and mailing my spiritual materials to those who can't afford them, as well as supporting the poor in the missions where I have served. I also hope at some point to be able to provide respite care for foster babies.

Mary Kloska Interviews Canadian Sculptor Timothy Schmaltz About His Work
This is really worth your watch!
Last night I was able to speak with Timothy Schmaltz again for an hour and a half. He spoke about the beginnings of his work and explained about the spiritual aspect of being a sculptor. He tells about the Canadian Bishops petitioning for his statue (my favorite) called 'A Quiet Moment' -where you see St. Joseph holding Our Lady holding Baby Jesus -to be given to Pope John Paul II who wanted it for a Vatican chapel. He also explains much about my second favorite -his Padre Pio in the Confessional work -which he actually did in total solitude in his studio in China.
We accidentally never got to the part about his huge Dante project (he's doing it with my publisher). He is making sculptures for all of the Cantos that are being published with a new translation. I love Dante, but he's always been a hard read for me. This translation is super! And Timothy's sculptures that illustrate each one are incredible. They eventually will be bronze casted and they are looking for a venue in Italy where he can set them up permanently, but that is after he tours the US with them. They need donors for this project, but anything extra or that they make from it he has arranged to have donated to the Vatican charity with migrants. For his Dante work, see here:
